In February of 2008, Mistress Talana extended the following invitation: "The University of Tulsa, located approximately three miles from the Kingdom Arts & Sciences site, has in its library many items of interest to the SCA, including: illuminated books and manuscripts; early printed books; renaissance cookery books; period legal documents; facsimiles of famous medieval books; and artifacts, including a small, lead gargoyle in the shape of a hound and a 17th century, needlework-covered chair. The Special Collections and Rare Books Librarian is willing to open the department on Saturday evening, after Kingdom Arts & Sciences is over, for those who would like to examine these treasures."
Several gentles accepted this offer, and Sir Cassius Leapus, OL, was among them. He very kindly donated the following images, taken with the permission of the Special Collections & Rare Books librarian at McFarlin Library, University of Tulsa. All photos copyright Cameron Lewis
